~ Part Two: Quest Complexity by Randox
Only a month into the New Year and we already have had 3 new quests added to the game. It would seem Jagex is determined to make good on their word and produce lots of new content. The newest quest is a definite success. We see another logic puzzle of medium difficulty at most, but I find logic puzzles a welcome prospect. Since the main puzzle is not the same for each person, a guide can't be written. We know that for one reason or another Jagex has chosen to not promote fan sites and so quests which are hard to write guides for could become more commonplace.
Forcing people to think their way through the game is not such a bad thing. Many players complain about younger players who lack the maturity and life experience to really play an MMORPG. One thing that younger players also lack is the capacity to understand and solve problems. This has nothing to do with maturity but with mental growth. For most people who are at least in grades 9th or 10th, think back to grades 5th or 6th mathematics. I am guessing that at some point most of you had trouble with long division and possibly some multiplication. Now think about the math you do now. At least some of you are familiar with polynomials, and solving systems of equations. Even if you had worked on nothing but math way back in elementary, it is unlikely that you would have been able to do more complex math much sooner because your brain just wouldn't have the capacity to understand it yet.
Life experience and age, as you grow, you learn to solve complex problems. In the new quest, a 9- 10 year old would likely resort to trial and error because even if they saw how to solve the puzzle, they likely wont be able to apply the problem solving technique.
More problem solving content could make RuneScape a far less enjoyable experience for underage players. Of course, much of the game has already been made, changes now won't really have a very large effect. Now while this may be disappointing for older players, think about this, Jagex has shown that they intend to cater the game for younger players. If adding more enjoyable and challenging puzzles would chase off all the younger kids, then Jagex likely wouldn't do it, but since adding a quest where a complete walk through is impossible won't really change anything, Jagex just may have finally found a way to make the game enjoyable for younger and older players alike. The young players will mostly avoid the content they can’t understand which leaves the older players free to play the game with people more their age and in the right level of growth.
Now let’s go back to the new quest. Jagex was not lying when they said it’s long. It may not be a One Small Favour which is beat-your-head-on-the-desk long, but it’s not something you can expect to do in an hour. That is, unless you have gathered all the needed materials ahead of time. This is a great thing since most of the joy of a quest dies a short while after completion. Eventually the novelty of some rewards wear off and you’re left wanting more. Longer quests provide enjoyment for a longer time, unless of course you’re just doing it for the reward in which case you won’t have any fun at all. The new quest has the potential to help those who fight in the God Wars Dungeon and hunters alike with many odd little rewards to be enjoyed. The nearby port allows some reasonable access, so that players don’t need to trek to the middle of nowhere to enjoy the fruits of their labours.
All in all, the year is still going great, with new quests and editions to skills as well as the upcoming expansion of the Summoning skill. A good job to Jagex and a good old “have fun” to the players.

~ Part Three: Interview of Jemathonical by Killerred005
In this interview, we welcome Jemathonical who is one of the newest TET Leaders!
Okay, let's start the questions. Let's start with Tip.it.
Q: Why did you join Tip.it?
I joined Tipit because being a F2Per, you couldn't use the RSOF to buy/sell things. I joined Tipit because I wanted to be able to sell things :)
Q: What made you stay?
I really liked everyone here and I felt welcome.
Q: How did you choose your forum name?
It was going to be Sir Jem 05, but I didn't realise that you could use '_', heh. So I just used Jem and added some random letters to the end of it - athonical, it means nothing lol.
Q: What inspired you to join TET?
I just looked up to everyone who was in TET when I first joined the forums. TET was the bees-knees :). Then just after I joined Tipit Forums they started up TETAU and were having auditions. I tried out but got rejected. I kept going to TETAU Events and finally got in.
Q: What did you plan on doing when you just joined TET?
I planned to have fun and just host heaps of events. I was so excited so I just thought up lots of events :).
Q: Now that you have experience, what do you plan on doing right now?
I plan on helping out the new TET members and give them advice.
Q: Had you once ever had second thoughts about joining TET?
Nope. I don't think I ever will.
Let's move onto RuneScape.
Q: What's the story behind your RuneScape name?
I originally had the account 'Jem 05'and got him up to level 30ish. Then I think i forgot the password or something so I made Sir Jem 05. Jem is my nickname. 05 was the year I started playing.
Q: What's your favourite skill?
For a while it used to be Runecrafting because I used to get heaps of money off airs. I don't think I have a favourite skill, but woodcutting and firemaking are my two highest stats, so I must like them :).
Q: Is there any reason why you didn't become a member? Is it by choice or maybe there's something stopping you?
I never had the need to go to members. I love the F2P part of the game. I have tried but got so far then thought 'Do I
really want to do this? And each time the answer has been no. I don't know, I reckon it would be great fun being a member, but since F2P recently got Clan Wars and other mini games, I might wait off getting membership until I get bored with these :P .
Q: What goal do you looking most forward to completing?
A 99 in anything. One day I will pull my finger out and try for a 99, but I guess I'm just too lazy :P. I have had a goal of 70 smithing for ages, so am looking forward to completing that so that I don't have to smelt another steel bar again!
Q: If you had a chance to reverse something, anything that you did, what would it be?
I wouldn't have a clue. Probably I really would like to have done Dragon Slayer without any walkthroughs, but it was impossible at the time :P
Q: Would you have any advice for the newer RuneScape players?
Don't say noob and train defence :^_^:
Q: This concludes this interview. Is there anything you would like to add?
Nah, I've woffled on enough. Thanks for the interview
Thank you for your time.

~ Part Four: Blah by Moneyman6369
Part 1: The Irony…
Ah, there’s so much I could write in a poem! Well, not really, but you get the point… And you really don’t want to read my poetry, especially my haikus… Anyhow, back to the world of Runescape. I find Jagex’s protection of the kids who play this game deeply ironic (that word is going to get so old in this Blah… Can’t think of a synonym though!). Notice how I say kids. Not teens, but kids, kids who have lied passed the 13 age limit restriction to enter and to play our game, Runescape. They shouldn’t even be playing the game, as we all know! Ah, but I’m getting ahead of myself here. Back to ironic part… Everyone hates the censor that, well, censors the chat in game, obviously. I can understand the more serious stuff, but ‘crap’ or ‘sucks’? At least they refrain from blocking ‘hell’, and thank goodness they don’t replace the words with embarrassing other words. Now, there’s not much we can do about this except complain and suggest an on/off control for the censor. But while Jagex is blocking their idea of inappropriate words, they have other things in the game that I find equally offensive (not me personally, but to the kids who play). For instance: beer?!? How can they block ‘crap’, but actually encourage the use of beers and brews in the game? Yes, that’s right, encourage. Certain quests actually require the usage of beer in the game! And Dwarvian Stouts are well known to be used to enter the mining guild at level 59 mining. Then there’s Saradomin (and other god’s) brews that are very popular… And the list just goes on and on! How can they justify blocking “bad” words, but alcohol is okay? Now, I’m not trying to suggest that they remove things like that from the game, oh no, quite the opposite. Rather that they lessen the severity of the censor… Let’s hope that they listen to our pleas and consider that possibly, their censor might be a little “out of hand” so to speak!
Part 2: Prayer for F2P (man, that’s boring to train…)
Want some tips on how to do it faster and livelier!? Actually, cut the last part, that’s practically impossible! Remember people, this is prayer we’re talking about! Anyway, for the tips, just look below!
• The Boneyard, located in the wilderness, is now a great place to train prayer for non-members! Previously, before the PKing updates, there was always a risk of being PKed while visiting the Boneyard. Now though, sit back and enjoy the wide expanse of seemingly never-ending bones!
• Now, this might come as a bit of a shock to you. Regular bones, as we all know, give a measly 4.5xp points, but monkey bones are another story! Here it comes: they give 5xp! *gasps*! Not only that, but they’re easily accessible for non-members. What’s not to love?
• Everybody loves big-bones; they give a large 15xp, and are non-member! But I, along with everyone else, hate heading over to Varrock and the Edgeville dungeons to find the moss and hill giants swarming with people, all scrambling for the drops. So I usually go to Crandor, and I suggest you do the same. Of course, it’s not going to be completely empty, but it definitely won’t be as crowded as those other places. And with a fishing spot nearby, it’s the ideal location!
So what’s the best bone to find and bury? Regular bones, while found in large quantities at the Boneyard, aren’t really that great. Monkey bones are a bit better, and a tad bit harder to obtain. And big bones are the best, but are hard to lay your hands upon them due to the high demand. All those rating there (i.e. best, great, etc.) were in terms of experience… But what’s the best overall bone? It really depends on your combat level! If I was below level 40 or so, I’d probably stick with regulars and monkeys. Once I move pass that, you can probably start doing big-bones, and they also get you good combat experience! So you decide: what’s the best bone that fits YOU?

~ Part Six: Chap 2: Beating Hooligans Senesless by Xebn Xocnil
Gil Colin Graham walked through the streets, people were friendly here, and he enjoyed it. He began to look through the market's alleys, there were many there who were selling unique goods at excellent prices.
"Please sir, would you like to buy some gems, old and used, but still powerful." Said one, showing off some artificial diamonds, unfortunately for the seller, his military grade gems were better.
"Sir, you look like you read often, I have here a most excellent selection that will hold something that will tickle your fancy... Here, sir, I have a very old version of He Knew He Was Wrong, the first novel written."
"What's it about?" Graham asked, he had heard about, but never read the book before.
"It is the sad story of a man who accuses his wife of cheating. Even though it looked like it, he was wrong, and was told so. He asks for forgiveness, but, alas, she wouldn't forgive him, eventually he goes mad and dies in a tragic way... WAIT! Don't go, I've got other books!"
Graham turned the corner or the three-way junction, darn... no shops. He turned around and went the other way. A girl and what looked like her brother were being harassed by delinquents! He drew his sword and charged the groups. He beat the hooligans senseless with the flat of his blade!
The damsel introduced herself as Alexia, and her brother as Kevin. She was Graham's age, 21, and was slimly built. She had straight short blond hair and blond eyes. Her hands were not 'soft' and had a strong grip. He was then informed that she was a cooking con-*test*-('") champion, or rather, 2nd place winner.
Kevin, secretly glad that his sister had found a new friend, suggested that they meet up again the next day. Much pleased by each other, they agreed. They went into the local cafe, and talked, much enamored by each other. But Graham's com-gem rang, and he had to leave, but he promised that he would visit when he could return from the palace.
Kevin smiled. "Before you leave, mind taking this, its our address." Graham took the note with a smile, promising to return to visit, but one thing was on his mind.

~ Part Seven: Welcome to the Jungle by Firsttsurugi
Section 1: Words of Advice
Want to learn more about the mysteries of Gielinor and its major characters? Thankfully, the brilliant minds of the Wise Old Man Detective Agency (WOMDA) have put up a Wikia so that they can share their infinite wisdom of Gielinor to the average 'scaper. Note: Still under construction. May be able to make an ad for it to place here on the Tribune, but no promises.
Want fame on Runescape? Well... I can't help you there, being that I have no fame, nor do I want it. Why would you want to be famous in an MMO? That has nothing but bad in it!
Don't automatically assume that everyone can pay the $5 dollars for Runescape. Some people may be "2 paychecks away from living out on the streets." (That's my Bon Jovi reference for this article)
Don't flame someone who has random letters for his name because he bumped up the Zezima interview topic. I did, and his post got deleted and I ended up being flamed for bumping up the Zezima topic! Sure learned my lesson after that. The lesson?
QUOTE THE IDIOT WHO BUMPED UP THE THREAD!
Section 2: You know you're a noob if...
You post complete spam, especially on a topic that just needs to die! No, I'm not talking about the Zezima topic, either, that one has a purpose. I'm talking about posting complete spam on threads that are already complete spam. Now you're just making this community look like a bunch of flaming morons!
You post those idiotic spam threads with no point whatsoever. This especially goes to that one guy who just posted a bunch of random insults towards Tip.it and its community! If you are going to insult us, at least give some evidence as to WHY we're a bunch of flaming morons, like I do believe I've done on at least two occasions.
You freak out when you find out a tip.iter is a girl. I did freak out once, but only because that girl made me a bloody liar because of it!
You think that our Andrew is Andrew Gower. I was afraid that there would be a bunch of demands from a bunch of idiots who made that mistake.
You think I'm loyal. I'll just have you know, if the pay is good enough, I won't think twice about betraying anyone! Unless the bribe to let them live is good enough, of course. Sorry, people, but I'm not Angel Eyes.
You don't think that Jeff Dunham: Spark of Insanity is just plain funny as "I'm-not-going-to-say-it-because-of-the-idiotic-filter-on-this-forum."
You just plain annoy the bejesus out of me.
Section 3: Misconceptions
A common misconception is that people think that everyone can afford the $5 that you are required for membership (maybe more, depending on method of payment). Now, this is a part of the Bon Jovi song, Hey God:
"Hey God, I'm just a little man, got a wife and family,
But I almost lost my house
Yeah, I bought into the dream.
We're barely holding on, when I'm in way too deep.
We're two paychecks away from living out on the streets."
Now, just read those lyrics, then look me in the eye and tell me that, if this person described in the song were real, he would have the spare $5 to pay for Runescape. This may be a little too far of an example, but it gets my point across nicely. Think before you say something insensitive like "Just pay the stupid $5." These people could lose their house paying those $5!
Did you know...
That Range, while previously stated to be the most underused combat skill, is also the combat skill with the most players with max experience?
That cooking holds a record for most players with max experience?
That, at its peak price, if you sold 4 blue party hats before the trading update, you would be ripping yourself off on the fourth hat?

~ Part Eight: Ask Anon! - FAQs by Anon
Runescape FAQs
* How can I make money on Runescape?
~ There are many ways to make money on Runescape and now with the new released skill (summoning) there are more ways than ever.
1. Fletching and alching yew longs seems to be a popular method of making money with strug yew long bow alching for 768gp
2. Woodcutting yews or maples (People like to level quickly so tend to buy these logs rather than cut them)
3. Runecrafting, People need runes, and if you have the patience you can make a lovely profit from making runes.
4. Farming herbs is another good way to make money, although the GE has seen prices of herbs go down they are still a good way of making money, the seed is cheaper than the herbs you get or pick the the herbs from monster drops.
5. Smithing and mining, ores are in demand, aspecially iron ore (for summoning) Rune ore is another good money maker (if you have the level). Iron knives are a popular range tool ingame and if you can make rune you will rake the GP in.
(these are just a few examples, something for everyone)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* I hate walking, how else can I travel about in Runescape?
~ You can travel about in Runesscape quite affectively but some methods require you do a quest to unlock it or certain levels.
1. Teleporting using Runes, You also get a free home teleport that you can use every 30 mins, but also remember, you need to level your Magic so you can use the higher teleports. Ancient teleports require Desert Treasure quest. Lunar Teleports require Lunar Diplomacy quest.
2. Fairy rings, to use the fairy rings you must complete fairy tails part 1 and started fairy tails part 2, these are widely spread all across Runescape.
3. Boats and Charter ships, (charterships) These can be very costly (completing Cabin Fever can reduce this cost, Ring of Charos(a) will too, but for the ring you must complete Creature of Frankenstrain and Garden of Tranquility) but can take you longer distances than regular boats, they dock in Port Sarim, Brimhaven, Catherby, Karamja, Port Khazzard, Port Tyras and Shipyard (some locations require a quest). (boats can take you to and from Kandarin, Ardougne, Port Khazzard, Brimhaven, Cairn Isle, Shipyard, Karamja, Crandor, Entrana, Post sarim and Asgarnia (with the ring of Charos(a) the cost is free to many locations and with Karamja gloves the cost is reduced to Karamja).
4. Canoes can take you to a few locations along the river Lum, this river goes from Lumbridge to the Wilderness(level 35). Depending on how far you can travel is all down to your woodcutting level.
5. Carts are another good way to travel, you have mine carts which go to and from Keldegrim and Ice Mountain - Dwarven Mines also White Wolf Mountain - Dwarven Passage These can be discounted using the Ring of Charos(a) but you must have started the Giant Dwarf quest.
Dorgesh-Kaan to Keldagrim Subway Train is another option to those who have completed Another Slice of H.A.M.
Jungle Cart's will take you Brimhaven and the Shilo Village, you must have completed Shilo Village Quest, also note the fee can vary from 10 to 200 GP depending on how much you are carrying.
6.If you have completed Eagles Peak Quest you can travel by eagle, You may travel from the woodlands (South of the Piscatoris Fishing Colony) to the following three hunting locations – desert (west of Uzer), jungle (south of Feldip hills) or snow (north of Rellekka). From these three locations you can only travel back to the woodlands.
7. Once you have completed the Grand Tree quest, you will have access to the Gnome Gliders, these are free to use. You can Fly to and from The Grand tree, White wolf mountain, Al Kharid, and Karamja, you can also fly to and from Feldip Hills (once you have completed one small Favour). You can travel to but not from the Digsite and once you have completed Monkey Madness you can also access the Secret Military Hanger to take you to Crash Island, on the Ape Atoll.
8. Gnome Spirit Tree's can take you places too, After completion of Tree Gnome Villiage quest you can travel to Tree Gnome Village, Gnomes' Stronghold, Forest north of Varrock and Khazard battlefield. Simply speak to the tree to travel. However you cannot teleport between all the trees directly, you must use the main Spirit Tree within the Tree Gnome Village as a hub. Level 83 farmers have the option of planting a spirit tree (this will give you an extra location). If you have completed The Path of Glouphrie quest you will be given a new option for Spirit Tree teleporting which is the Mountains east of the poison waste and the ability to teleport between any 2 tree's.
9. Hot Air balloons are unlocked after completing An Enlightened Journey quest, Once you have successfully managed to unlock the route to a destination, you can travel from there back to Entrana or any other destination you have also unlocked. But to unlock them you must guide them the first time. then it is automatic after that. Just remember to bring the log of the destination. you require.
10. Enchanted Lyre after completing The Fremennik quest Once enchanted, you can use it to teleport to Rellekka. Offering a raw shark earns two charges, a sea turtle earns three, and a manta ray ray earns four teleport charges. Wearing a Ring of Charos(a), you can charm the Fossegrimen into believing that your raw bass is a small shark, getting two charges.
11. Ectophial can be used after completing Ghost Ahoy quest and refilled from the Ectofungus.

Eighteen editions here and gone. A nineteenth edition coming up and then we have our big 20. To some people ten months from May 07 to now may seem like a long time, for me they have flown by.
This newspaper has seen staff members come and go, so many have already it is impossible to even remember them all. But then there are those who have come...and not left. Those Staff members are the ones I would like to recognize and to tell you about.
Firstly, we have Randox. He's been with us since the very beginning and the 3rd person to join the Staff! Randox has been unbelievably loyal and has been dedicated to his work since the day he joined. He started out as a News Commentator and still dong that he is also the Co-Manager of the Gielinor Tribune.
Next, there's 25_leaf! He's also been with us since day one and was the 4th person to join the Staff! He first signed up to be a Consultant and is still that to this day along with his position in the Management team of the Gielinor Tribune. Like Randox, he has been loyal, extremely active, always there to lend a hand!
Next, we have Andufus! Been with us since the beginning and was the 11th person to join the Staff! He joined as a creative writer and is now the Lead Creative Writer. He's always been loyal and dedicated, and always getting his task done! He's also always been there to use his extra skills to help us out with interviews and such!
Then there's Firsttsurugi, the 15th person to join the Staff! He first started out wanting to be an interviewer but changed his mind over to be a Blah! Writer and now he is the Lead Blah! Writer for the Gielinor Tribune. Incredibly active and dedicated to his team and has been since day one.
Finally we have Dkw0101! He has also been with us since the first start being the 19th person to join the Staff! He first offered to be a photographer but soon decided to try his hand at comics. Ever since he's provided us with a great comic every edition! His work has evolved over the months and so has his dedication to this team! He's always helpful and friendly and always there to keep us going!
I've told you all this for one simple reason. - To recognize and show to our reader's what the backbone of the Gielinor Tribune is made of. All our other Staff keep us moving but these experienced and dedicated members keep us up!
In the future editions of the Gielinor Tribune you can look forward to some special Interviews of all these people along with interviews of the rest of the Staff that hopefully you'll enjoy!
Just recently after this article was written, Dkw0101 unfortunately informed us that he was being forced to retire because of real-life engagements and responsibilities. We all are sad that he has to leave, and we all enjoyed his comics for the 9 months he has been with us. You can view all his published work on display on the Gielinor Tribune forums at
Dkw0101's Comical Reality. Enjoy!
