We have a load of well thought out ideas based on player suggestions, but many people who make their living by buying and selling commodities are worried. Let’s start off with an update that has already been released, the Assist system. This could either be something that really is based on suggestions and designed to make our lives easier, or part of the continuing campaign to eliminate scammers by protecting people from their own stupidity. I think it’s a bit of both. I’m not here to explain how it works, but the point is that this system allows things to be done that were never possible in the past (like construction assist which now exceeds flat packs capability). It also makes things that were already done such as free gem cutting, easier and safer. I think for once they have actually managed to make the game safer without placing some inconvenience in the game, this addition actually helps. Next up is smith-x. The only people who really have a good reason to complain are people who already have 99 or close to it in that skill. It will now be a little easier to level; though the change shouldn’t be too drastic so I think even the 99 smithers can keep fairly quiet about this. The long foretold exp to next level is finally on the block to be added. We found out this was coming a long time ago thanks to a difference between the German knowledge base and the English one where the German version showed this feature already in place. If anyone complains about this I have only 2 questions: 1) what are you smoking? 2) Can I have some? The updates to the Dual Arena should be interesting. I will trust Jagex knows what they’re doing as the Dual Arena is not really my thing. Tournaments sound like fun, but I would suggest you get into them quickly as once popularity for them drops, arranging a large tournament could be quite tedious. And now the new feature that has merchanters either ranting, holding their breath, or peeing their pants. The Grand exchange promises to make life so much easier for the buyers and a potential nightmare for people who use the different prices on different worlds to their advantage. Now getting something cheap will not involve the painful process of jumping worlds and praying you’re on at an hour when the deals are good. I personally am overjoyed, now I can sell the results of my skilling while I go train more and get more stuff to sell. What’s losing 10 or 20 gold per item when I can create 150 – 200 more items in the time it would have taken to sell? While many consider merchanting one of the great skills of the game, it really is not a skill in the eyes of Jagex. Think of this as a challenge, and might I suggest that long term investment might become a better option. And I haven’t forgotten the quest. Many people are mad (to put it VERY lightly) about this. Everyone is clamouring for a Mourning Ends Part 3, or something else. I am sitting here just hoping to meet the requirements, seeing as a major Guthix story line truly interests me (if you didn’t realize this is one of the God plots, you REALLY need to start paying more attention to dialogue). Quests take time, and it is a possibility that this was started before the summer. Just be happy you’re getting a quest. If you can’t be happy, perhaps you would consider crying me a river to my house so I can canoe to my front door? My parting words are just a request for you all to remember that Jagex really does care if you like their game or not. If you stop playing they lose money, so contrary to popular belief, they actually don’t make people mad on purpose. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Honest1 Productions Events Team are always recruiting. Please stop in and check us out, and be part of a commuity dedicated to fun. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Part Three: Abyssal Whip Decline by Master_Smither Most of us have noticed the recent drop in the Abyssal whip prices and if you have and are wondering why or haven’t noticed, I am here to explain it. For about four months, Abyssal Whips have been stable at the 1,600,000GP area. But recently they have experienced a decline in prices by 200,000GP or so. Why you ask? There are several very important reasons for this. First of all the biggest 1 in price reduction, supply and demand. With the recent decline in Runescape activity due to school, college, and sports the amount of players going for 70 attack has decreased. Most of the people are involved in other activities and usually don't play every day and are slowed in their quest for 70 attack and the option to wield. With the demand lowered, the price falls. This is slightly reversed for the same reason in supply as there are less people getting whips, but the players that normally supply the whips are usually veteran players that try and find the time to play. Secondly, the Saradomin sword played a major role in the Whip’s price drop. The Saradomin sword is a relatively new weapon that is as strong as the Whip. With the option to train strength and a stronger special attack it became popular overnight. With the new Godswords at 50M+ for the cheapest one and the whip at 1.5M and not having the ability train strength, the Saradomin Godsword became the beefed up Dragon Scimitar. With all these things going for it, the Godsword took another bite out of the Whip and its price. Lastly, Bone bolts. Surprised aren’t you guys? Well, because of the new buy X option, and the unlimited shop stock, range has become a "hit". Due to the cheap cost and the decent damage dealt by the bone bolt, they have become the new magic short bow. It is slightly faster than the crossbow, but just a bit slower then the MSB. As a result, range experiences a boom of new players because of fast and cheap XP people begin to train it instead of melee. The amount of rangers quickly increases, while the amount of meleers decreases causing even less people to go for 70 attack or even uses a whip. This rolls over into the actual whip market as some people sold their whips to afford hundreds of thousands of bone bolts for ranging, they raises the supply. This goes to show that even a small update to an almost never used shop could change the economy of Runescape. Many more things come into consideration but these are the 3 biggest factors in the recent whip price decline. *The whip prices are accurate as the RSOF say they are. But the price reduction is approximated due to what I saw in the decrease on RSOF. So this is mainly Runescape forum based not World 2, 6, 9, etc... ~ Part Four: Blah! by Firsttsurugi Section 1: Words of Advice When training skills such as mining, either go to German worlds or very crowded worlds with activity. If you were in, say, world 2, then most likely everyone will be too busy merchanting instead of mining the respawn times are also significantly faster. The same goes for combat. Not only can nobody take your kills, but everything respawns much more quickly. When feeling down while playing, go to the more entertaining funny threads such as: Noobs Say the Funniest things or Post Thy Funny Forum Posts. You will feel better instantly. If you want to take stress off of the game, try typing little stories or making fan fictions for the Varrock Library or other sites. It’s amazing how much better you feel after free writing (or in this case, typing) a couple paragraphs. Do your homework. If you spend too much of your time with other stuff, then, no doubt, your grades will plummet and those little obstacles we call parents are going to keep you and TIF as far away as possible. Do us all a favor and don’t type in a way that not even YOU can understand. I don’t care if you’re tired or just plain drunk, you are still going to look like an idiot. Section 2: You know you’re a noob if… You ask where you can get “dragonite.” You sell 10 feathers for 10k and wonder why people aren't buying. You go into the wilderness with a Gods sword and wonder why everyone is following you, waiting for you to get far enough in... Can anyone say “bought account?” You do every quest and every mini-game just to unlock the hidden "Doctor Evil" emote that doesn't appear on your list until you complete the game 100%, which is kind of impossible. Even if it did exist, we don't even have PINKIES! You sell a blue party hat at the general store. I, personally, don’t like how party hat prices are so high, but I think more on strategic terms, not rarity terms. Section 3: The Grand Exchange We all know about the Grand Exchange being implemented. I have seen multiple people talking about how this will effectively "destroy" merchanting! I, for one, don't believe that for a SECOND! If you think that, then go to world 1 or 2 after the update, (I doubt you will even be able to get in there, even with the update) and see if falador has become a ghost town. No matter what, merchanting will still remain an effective way to make money. The only thing different is that you can actually do stuff other than sitting in a bank saying "red:wave2:selling white berries, 1k ea," (I'm probably the only one who did that in all of Runescape, but you never know). I personally cannot wait for the update. I've been needing to buy a rune full helm and a rune kite shield ever since I quit members, (both having been painted with Arrav colors), but cannot be distracted from my more important, non-combat goals, such as 76 woodcutting, 85 mining, and 99 smithing. This update will make buying both a lot easier. So don't think that this Grand Exchange will be bad for anyone at all. This update will be nothing but a plus! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ forumer.com/> Come join the Land of Guthix, the NEW RuneScape Forum. She was sweating all over, and she had been having another nightmare. She did not remember her past, apart from two memories. One was a man in odd green robes that looked like glorified mummies robes, and he was casting a spell on her. The other was being expelled from the crafting guild. She feared that the spell from the old man was a memory wipe. The day before, she managed to get to Lumbridge, but only by chance. Whilst drinking from the river Lum, she had fallen in and when she managed to get out, the sight of a great castle greeted her. A man named Hans had informed her that if she asked nicely enough she may be able to reside in the castle whilst she got herself together. Surely enough, now sleeping three doors down from the Duke, she felt rather at home. She stood up and put on the fresh robes that had been put at the bottom of the bed for her. They where blue and went down to her knee height. Marina walked over to the mirror and started brushing her hair when suddenly a knock came at the door. “Just a minute, please.” She called. She slowly walked over to the door, wondering who would bother her so early in the morning. She opened the door, and as soon as she saw the Duke in front of the doorway, she bowed. It was some natural reaction for her. She saw his smile, but took nothing of it. She was about to ask what had brought him here when he then explained himself anyway. “I am here with someone who was expelled from the Varrock Guard. He needs a companion because, just like you, he has nowhere to go. I think you two might like each other and perhaps you could help each other out.” “But how could I possibly –” She began to respond but the Duke turned on his heels and walked off. A man suddenly walked into view. “Hi," he said, "I’m Jon.” He offered his hand and she took it. “I… I’m Marina. At least...I think.” This caused a chuckle from Jon but the glare she gave him made him cut the laugh short. “So, how could you help me then?” She asked. “By being a companion. You can’t stay here forever, the Duke won’t tolerate you forever.” She chewed her lip as realization hit her. What he had said was true. “Where would we go from here?” She questioned. “Anywhere, apart from Varrock. Where do you fancy?” “I don’t know anywhere apart from here anymore. I don’t remember anything.” “Well then, for a start we could go to the library.” “Why?” “To show you a map of the world. So you do know places, and how to get there.” “Oh…” She chewed her lip again, considering this. “Okay.” Jon beckoned to her and she stepped out of her room. Quarter of an hour later they where approaching the Lumbridge Library. They walked into the building and Marina gasped. It was magnificent. The light came down through a window, and mirrors made it light the entire room. It was filled with teak bookcases that where packed with books. Jon walked over to the bookcase in the top left corner and pulled out a very thick leather bound book. He gestured to a table and they sat down. He flicked through the pages and eventually with an “Ah!” he found the one he was looking for. Marina leaned closer to see a big map drawn on thick ancient parchment. He pointed to a small section of the map and said “This is Lumbridge, where we are now.” And memories flooded Marina’s head. Marina was seven, sitting at a table in a different library. She was next to a woman in a dark red cloak, the hood covered her face. She wore scarlet robes and was pouring over a book. “So, that is how to get to Lumbridge. I will journey there soon. Marina, look at this. That is Varrock. Varrock is of great importance to Mummy.” Marina peered, and saw a big city on the map. She smiled and repeated. “Varrock!” Pointing at it. “Very good Marina.” She said, ruffling Marina’s hair. “Why you go to Lumbridge Mummy?” Marina asked impatiently. “Marina, are you okay?” Jon shook her on the shoulder. She shook her head and then realized Jon was talking to her. “What? Sorry. I must of dozed off. But it looked so real!” “What did?” “Nothing...It doesn’t matter.” To be continued… ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do you like to play games other than Runescape but can't find a fun place to talk about them with follow players? Doomsavenger: Ok, great. Q: When did you begin playing runescape? Doomsavenger: I think I began sometime in 2003 on my first account; this one was started in 2004, so roughly 3 or 4 years. Q: Are there any goals you're hoping to accomplish? Doomsavenger: Well, recently I accomplished 90 fishing, which got me close to 15m. Right now I’m aiming for 90 mage, then 94, then 99 mage. I have enough runes for 90 right now, so I should get it soon. Q: How long have you had that goal? Doomsavenger: Since about mid July, when I first thought of using my money from fishing to raise mage. Q: When did you find Tip.It's Forums? Doomsavenger: I believe I had started a month or so before, and I was having trouble with “The Shield of Arrav Quest”, so I looked up "runescape tips" on Google, and clicked on tip.it, the first one. After about a year of only using the guides, I finally registered on the forums. Q: Do you play Runescape ingame more than you use Tip.It? If so, explain why. Doomsavenger: I am always on Tip.it forums when I am playing ingame. Usually I browse the forums while I play. Sometimes I only have Tip.it open, when I am posting something big, or not in the mood for Runescape. So about even. Q: When did you become a CTET Member? Doomsavenger: January 2007. Q: Have you ever wished to not be one, as in, does it become to stressful sometimes? Doomsavenger: Over the summer there was a large period of debating event types, and no CTET events have happened recently, it's been a lot of working and sorting all of this out, and we are still working on this. In September, I got tired of not doing events, and considered quitting; though I ended up staying in CTET. Q: Why did you choose your username? Doomsavenger: I don't remember why I chose my forums name, but I chose evil_wisp, my runescape name, in a somewhat of an odd way. I couldn't think of a username, so I took a dictionary, and opened it to a random page, then found an interesting word on that page, and I happened to see wisp. I tried wisp, but it was taken, I tried a few adjectives in front of it, all were taken, and eventually I tried evil wisp, and it was free, so I used it. Q: Is There Anything you'd like to add before I go? Doomsavenger: Just about other accounts I made after evil wisp, I never got any account over level 50, though I have a few low level accounts with 50 mage or something. Well, thanks for letting me have the time to interview you! ~ Part Nine: Imponderables by Book - If white wine goes with fish, do white grapes go with sushi? - If swimming is good for your shape and weight, then why do the whales look the way they do? - If you take an Oriental person and spin him around several times, does he become disoriented? - Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm. - How are there interstate highways in Hawaii? - Why is a person who plays the piano called a pianist, but a person who drives a race car is not called a racist? - Why is a "wise man" and a "wise guy" near opposites? - If you play a blank tape at full blast in a mime's ear, will he freak out? - Do they have reserved parking for non-handicapped people at the Special Olympics? - Whose cruel idea was it for the word "lisp" to have an "s" in it? - Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard? - If all those psychics know the winning lottery numbers, why are they all still working?
